Relative Satellite Motion/Guidance, Navigation and Control. Major Professor:  Dr. David Geller

Typically, relative satellite motion has been formulated in the Cartesian coordinate frame. Although the Cartesian coordinate frame provides easier visualization of relative motion trajectories and the derivation is straightforward, the linearizing assumptions necessary to arrive at the Clohessy-Wiltshire equations introduce errors in the relative motion trajectories. My research seeks to find novel relative motion solutions using curvilinear coordinate frames that will provide added accuracy over the traditional Clohessy-Wiltshire equations. These new solutions can then be applied to many relative motion applications and yield more accurate results and more knowledge on the intricacies of relative satellite motion.
